Alternative ed students display art at hotel resort 5/24/01 Shawna Hubbarth Staff Writer Maple Valley Alternative Education students last month displayed their art from the year at the Crystal Mountain Hotel Resort, home of the Michigan Alternative Education Conference. Those who attended the conference said they were very impressed with the art work, said art teacher Cindy Grant. Art work ranged from India Ink, string paint art, pencil drawings, sponge and wax painting and water painting, among other styles. Interest was so high for the art that persons attending the conference wanted to purchase a piece of work by Lindsey Gibbs. "We had a lot of compliments," said Grant. "We displayed work from Art 1, and 2, and junior high. We have been busy working on different projects throughout the year." Grant said, "The students do art therapy so that they can express themselves through their art." She said these works of art will be on display in the lobby of Kellogg School until May 25 for anyone interested in checking them out.
